Bret Mullavey

Bret entered the world of Banking and Finance in 2008,  and spent the best part of a decade working for the major banks and financial institutions. But you know what they say about square pegs in round holes, it was never going to fit.

Bret is driven by an inherent belief that the finance industry is tackling advice from the wrong perspective. The industry's primary responsibility needs to be more than just to get you finance. It needs to educate and give you the tools to manage and pay off your debt as quickly and  effectively as possible.

So rather than complain about the state of the union, he set out to create a new approach to broking and finance - and fintcap was born.

My Story

Originally from Walla Walla, NSW, I began my finance career in regional New South Wales. During my time within the major banks I worked in over 30 local communities right across the East Coast. I've been fortunate enough to meet people from all walks of life, and been part of some incredible journeys as a result. It's this foundation that keeps me grounded.

I made the move to Melbourne in 2012 and it's been my home ever since.

Since moving to Melbourne, I spent a large portion of my career working for the major financial institutions and managed some of the biggest locations they hold in Melbourne. Ultimately though, for all the flash, I didn't see a whole lot of substance, and was driven to make a change.

I believe that money is hard enough to come by and manage at the best of times. Too often the world of finance can make things seem overly complicated, and can be built on systems that make it difficult to know exactly how good of a deal you're on. If you're anything like the vast majority of the population, so long as it's not causing you pain or reason for concern you let your finances go and hope they take care of themselves.

But it shouldn't be like this.

So my mission is fairly simple. It's to strip away all the unnecessary complexity, help you understand your situation and educate on how you manage your finances and lending, not just now but in the future too.

Outside of work, I'm passionate about American Football and am a proud member of the Croydon Rangers. One day I hope to retire in Austin, Texas to be closer to my beloved Texas Longhorns.
